Rarity | Base Stats | Price | Unlock |
---|---|---|---|
Gold | 800/1,200 | 220,000 | Available in Store, Man of Steel Pack |
Kryptonian Battle Armor: General Zod takes 20% LESS DAMAGE from Special and Super attacks. |
While Man of Steel General Zod may be outclassed by Green Lantern/Red Son in terms of his passive, he is nonetheless considered a cheaper alternative to the otherwise rare character, as he is readily available for purchase in the store.
Strategy[]
Basic Attacks[]
Basic combo | Damage pattern (% of damage stat) | Total (including Combo Ender) |
---|---|---|
Light (Combo Ender) | 2% - 2% - 2% - (3%) | 9% |
Heavy | 4% - 4% - 4% | 12% |
Passive[]
General Zod Man of Steel can take a lot of punishment. His passive allows him to shrug off special attacks, after which, he can then retaliate with his own attacks. Equipping some blocking gear makes Man of Steel Zod the tank of any fight, especially with gears such as the Blue Lantern Ring which can restore back his health, if he had lost any.
He may be a good beginner character, but will be later heavily outclassed by many better tanks like Superman/Injustice 2 or even Green Lantern/Red Son. His low damage stat will also hold him back from competitive gameplay, and such, his usefulness for late game may be just for Challenge Mode requirement since the only other Zod is Zod/Prime, a Challenge character that isn't available in store from the beginning when you need Zod to take part in Challenge Mode.
Gear[]
General Zod can also be equipped with the Fourth World Set, which gives him a hefty health boost, heals him over time from his Special 1 and resurrect him, among other effects. Or better yet, players can use the LexCorp Set instead, which will make him take even less damage when a opponent performs a special attack as well as offer two ways to heal him back up. Other great defensive options include the Gingold Soda, Batman Ninja Helmet, and the Killer Croc Companion Card EVOLVED.
Interactions[]
Please note that battles are highly situational: this section only mentions cards that have mechanics that, for any reason, are particularly effective with/against, or particularly ineffective against Zod. Having a card that "counters" Zod does not mean it is always a good choice.
Good With[]
- Harley Quinn/Animated: With General Zod/Man Of Steel's low damage stat, she can boost not only his damage, but his power generation by 20%, making him as offensive as he is durable.
- Batman/Prime: He can also boost General Zod's damage by 25%.
- Lex Luthor/Krypto: He can boost Zod's health and allow him to soak up more damage.
- Harley Quinn/Arkham: Similar to the above, but she can also heal him and provide a temporary but large boost to his otherwise low damage.
Good Against[]
- Characters heavily dependent on special damage: With the right gear and support, Zod can goad opponents into wasting their special and super attacks on him and absorb monumental amounts of damage.
- Batman characters equipped with the Militarized Batmobile: Being one of the only characters in the game who can resist Super Move damage without gear, he can counter the damage boost of the Batmobile to a great extent, which will in turn reduce the Area Effect damage dealt by it. Note that this is only if he himself is hit by the super move. He cannot reduce the AoE if a teammate is hit by the super move.
Countered By[]
- Characters with powerful basic attacks, such as Batman/Flashpoint, Deathstroke/Flashpoint, Jessica Cruz/Rebirth, and Green Arrow/Rebirth: Zod's passive does not reduce the damage of their devastating basic attacks.

Trivia[]
- He is the first character to have a main name that is different from his "Prime" counterpart ("General Zod" instead of "Zod").
- When being hit by a special attack, his visor can be seen to activate and will deactivate once the special has finished. It can also be seen briefly after he has been hit by a super move. It is an indicator that his passive is active and a nice little visual detail.
