The Gingold Soda is a piece of Legendary (5-Star) Gear, evolved from the Epic (4-Star) gear, Gingo Fruit. The unevolved version can be obtained by ranking in the top 5% of certain Online Battle seasons, or as a possible reward in the Worst Heroes Ever Bundle, The Dawn of Justice Triple Pack, Nth Metal Pro Packs, or Nth Metal Ultimate Packs.
Effects[]
- 10% - 30% Damage Reduction from basic attacks
- BLOCKING stops 12% - 22% more damage
- 15% - 35% Damage Reduction from CRIT attacks
- [EVOLVED] 10% - 20% Chance to take no damage from basic attacks
Mechanics[]
Deflect basic damage[]
Character simply takes no damage from that basic attack. Unlike damage reduction, receiving no damage from this effect will not prevent status effect associated with basic attack, such as Power Drain from Overpowered 5-U-93-R. Life Drain still take effect and heal by the amount as it would have healed.
Taking no damage will still cause flinching. For Black Adam/Regime and Black Adam/Prime, if their passives are active, taking no damage will not trigger it; Black Adam will still flinch as normal but their opponent will be unaffected.
Basic damage reduction[]
Its damage reduction on basic attacks stack additively with other sources, up to 100% for totally taking no damage from basic attacks. Receiving reduced damage from this effect will also reduce amount of power drained by Ra's al Ghul Scimitar and Overpowered 5-U-93-R on combo enders, up to negating it completely at 100% damage reduction. Life Drain will also have reduced effect because of reduced damage dealt.
Crit damage reduction[]
Damage reduced from crit attacks is additive - essentially, subtract 35% from the total crit modifier, not multiply it by 0.65x. For a regular crit that would normally deal 150% damage, maxed Gingold Soda reduces it to 115% (roughly 23% damage reduction overall). Without other effects, Batman/Flashpoint's passive causes his crits to do 300% damage, maxed Gingold Soda reduces it to 265% (roughly 11.7% damage reduction overall). Therefore, the crit damage reduction is smaller than it seems and almost negligible against enemies with high crit boost.
Strategy[]
One of the few pure tank legendary gear pieces, it could be paired with the Killer Croc Companion Card for further basic damage reduction. If Nightwing/Regime is equipped with both, fully evolved, he becomes immune to basic attacks.
The Batman Ninja Helmet is another piece of tank gear that can complement it. Together, they will make any character become a meat shield against basic attacks, provided that they have enough power. If also combined with the Killer Croc Companion Card EVOLVED or the LexCorp Helmet V2, they can take almost no damage from basic attacks and specials, while not blocking or blocking respectively. If a Justice League character is equipped with the The Batman Ninja Helmet and Killer Croc Companion Card EVOLVED plus the Gingold Soda and is teamed with Shazam/New 52, they can be immune to both basic and special attacks as long as they have 3 bars of power. Batman can benefit best from this setup as he can make use of the helmet's crit chance boost, and both Batman/Arkham Knight and Batman/Arkham Origins can achieve 2 bars of power at start of the match thanks to their passives. In addition, Arkham Knight Batman can also select DOT Immunity to further boost his defensive capabilities. The Flash/Blackest Night is another Justice League character being immune to DOT as well.
Its basic damage deflection is helpful when facing against strong basic attackers, such as Batman/Flashpoint and Superman/New 52.

Trivia[]
- In the comics, Gingold Soda gave Elongated Man his powers.
- Unlike other Legendary Gear, the Gingold Soda and other new Legendary Gear after it requires 62,000 Power Credits to evolve the gear as opposed to the usual 60,000 that most other Legendary Gear require. Each piece of a Gear Set requires even less than 60,000 to evolve it.
