The Claw of Horus is a piece of Legendary (5-Star) Gear, evolved from the Epic (4-Star) gear, War Gauntlet. The unevolved version can be obtained by ranking in the top 5% of certain Online Battle seasons, or as a possible reward in the Worst Heroes Ever Bundle, The Dawn of Justice Triple Pack, Nth Metal Pro Packs, or Nth Metal Ultimate Packs.
Despite being introduced in the 2.13 update it was not released until 2.17.
Effects[]
- On Tag-In, the opponent receives damage equal to 2% - 10% of his health
- When an opponent Tags-In all damage to that opponent increases by 5% - 10%, stacks 3 times, and resets on Player Tag-out
- [EVOLVED] On SP1 50% - 75% chance to disable 1 random gear of the opponent till opponent Tags-Out
Mechanics[]
Tag damage[]
Deals damage equal to a % of the enemy's current health, similar to Batgirl/Cassandra Cain's passive, but this can be blocked. Unlike The Master's Death Cart, this cannot be used to apply gear DOT even if you use a special immediately.
This briefly staggers the opponent, but is too brief to reliably follow up with most basics or specials. It is able to interrupt an enemy's basic attack combo.
It occurs at the same time as a gear tag-in stun (e.g. Cloak of Destiny's stun), and behaves inconsistently on which comes first. Sometimes the stagger will negate the tag-in stun, other times the stun will occur after the stagger, so the target is properly stunned. However, Bane/Luchador's tag-in stun occurs slightly after either of those effects, so if his passive triggers, he will always be able to stun even with the Claw of Horus equipped. Its tag-in damage occurs after Batgirl/Arkham Knight's rescue stun, negating it, so it's recommended to not equip it on her if you want to utilize her rescue.
When used on Aquaman/Prime in conjunction with the Tantu Totem, he is able to repeatedly chip away enemy health by continuously performing his SP2 to summon an Atlantean Hero and repeatedly tagging back to Aquaman/Prime.
Batman/Gaslight can negate its tag-in damage.
Damage boost[]
While the user is tagged in, every opponent tagging out will increase the user's overall damage by 5-10% up to a maximum of 3 times. Knocking out an opponent also seems to trigger that effect. This resets when the user tags out.
Despite the wording, this damage boost is general and is not tracked individually for each opponent. As long as the Claw of Horus user remains in the fight and the enemy tags 3 times, they will get a total of a 15%-30% damage boost against any opponent. This boost does not affect gear DOT.
Disable Gear[]

Its Disable Gear effect works on Invulnerability. Batgirl's SP1 also disable gears multiple times
Also called gear shatter, it can be applied even if the target is blocking or protected by Invulnerability (although it won't disable the Astro-Harness' invulnerability if already triggered). It does not stack with Superman/Dawn of Justice's "Shattering Blows" however.
Gear shatter can usually apply only once, at the last hit of each special, except for some special cases below:
- When used with Enchantress, if two SP1s are performed in succession, each Enchantress skull that hits the enemy mid-special has a chance to shatter gear.
- When used with The Master's Death Cart, on second and subsequent tag-ins, if an SP1 is initiated immediately on tag-in while the gunfire hits are firing, the effect can be applied numerous times, often resulting in all enemy gears being shattered.
- Combined with the Tantu Totem, by repeatedly causing a SP1 to completely miss (by performing a combo to knock down the enemy before an SP1 is performed), gear shatter can be applied while power is continuously refunded. This can work best on single-hit SP1s.
- 4-hit SP1 Batgirl characters can apply the effect up to 3 times in a single SP1.
- 2-hit SP1 Batman characters can apply the effect up to 2 times in a single SP1.
- 7-hit SP1 Batman characters usually apply gear shatter 2 times, but when the first 2 hits of the SP1 misses, the effect can shatter up to 3 times.
- Lord Joker/Batman Ninja can apply the shatter effect up to 2 times in a single SP1.
- Static/Prime can apply the effect up to 2 times if the third light attack hits mid-special.
- Due to a bug, if his combo ender appears it can cause the entire SP1 to not be performed.
- With Flashpoint teammates' assists, Deathstroke/Flashpoint is able to apply the effect up to 3 times on his SP1 (the last hit of his own SP1, and the assists).
Strategy[]
While this gear may seem weak, it is certainly useful when equipped to certain characters that can take advantage of its effects. Its best effect is the ability to shatter gear on SP1. As such, it's best to equip this on a character with a frequently used SP1, such as The Flash or Batgirl. The gear shatter will disable one piece of gear and can stack, meaning that characters using their SP1s thrice in quick succession can leave their opponents potentially with no gear to aid them. Furthermore, it can help in dealing with notorious gear such as the Astro-Harness and Fourth World Set, which some players may find a hassle to fight against.
Because the gear shatter only triggers on chance and shatters one gear, it can be hard to get a specific enemy gear disabled quickly. Thus, it is helpful to use it alongside characters and gear that can apply gear shatter multiple times in one SP1 such as Batgirl/Cassandra Cain. All of those interactions can also apply the DOT effect of The Ibistick, League of Assassins Adept Blade, and LexCorp Helmet V2 multiple times, and thus the Claw of Horus and DOT gear can be used together on those characters to utilize the interactions, especially with The Master's Death Cart equipped.
Characters or gear that perform DOT attacks would synergize with the Claw as the DOT would likely cause the opponent to tag out, activating the damage boost. Batman/Gaslight is a great user of this gear as his SP1 causes bleed and apply gear shatter 2-3 times, and he can also apply burn to the tagged in enemy. Despite what the second effect says, it does not seem to work with Sinestro/Antimatter, who can force the opponent to tag out with his SP1. Aside from getting the opponent to tag out, knocking them out will trigger the effect as well, meaning that players do not necessarily need to wait for the opponent to eventually tag out, for convenience.
Its tag-in attack deals damage based on enemy's % health, making it a useful gear against bosses or enemies with high health. It is recommended to not use this gear with characters/gears that can stun on tag-in because the tag-in damage comes after the stun and this removes the stun effect.
In high-level Online Battle gameplay, player may encounter some gear setups that are very challenging to defeat, such as Shazam/New 52's invincible Justice League teammates, or triple resurrections The Flash/Blackest Night, etc. The most reliable method to win against those teams is shattering their gears, making Claw of Horus crucial in this mode.

Trivia[]
- It is the sixth legendary gear belonging to a character not in the game, following Ra's al Ghul's Scimitar, Gauntlets of Azrael, Riddler's Staff, and Scarecrow's Ventilator Mask & Soultaker Sword.
- Strangely, the first effect refers to the victim as a male with "his" despite working on any character regardless of gender.
