Deadly Games: DAMAGE-OVER-TIME attacks deal +100% DAMAGE for Catwoman and her teammates. |
Batman Returns Catwoman is a deadly card with deadly games; her passive wreaks havoc with cards such as herself, Scorpion, and Aquaman. Damage over time has never been more effective. With her ability, your opponents will take serious bleeding damage, unaffected by block.
Strategy[]
Basic Attacks[]
Basic combo | Damage pattern (% of damage stat) | Total (including Combo Ender) |
---|---|---|
Light (Combo Ender) | 2% - 2% - 2% - (3%) | 9% |
Heavy | 4% - 4% - 4% | 12% |
Passive[]
Batman Returns Catwoman normally increases damage over time effects by 100% - doubling them at minimum damage, but as it stacks additively with the damage increase with tapping/swiping (another +100%), if you tap/swipe 200%, the total maximum damage would be 300% of the minimum damage.
For unknown reasons, her passive only grants a 50% damage boost to Catwoman/Arkham Knight's DOT.
Her passive affects the following:
- Most conventional DOTs inherent to specials.
- Most DOT from characters' passives, such as Solomon Grundy/Earth 2's tag-in DOT, or The Batman Who Laughs/Metal's bleed.
Her passive does not affect the following:
- LexCorp Set 3-piece effect.
- Bleed from Darkseid/Apokolips's passive.
- Gear DOT (The Ibistick, League of Assassins Adept Blade, LexCorp Helmet V2, Astro-Harness, Heart of Darkness, Diablo Companion Card EVOLVED).
- Aquaman/Injustice 2's passive allows him to remove DOTs on him and apply it on his opponent with double damage - Catwoman cannot increase this further (although if he uses this against an opposing Batman Returns Catwoman's DOT, he will double what she has already increased).
After a patch, she no longer functions as an Arkham card.
She is one of the better gold characters in store. While having low stats, her passive is quite impressive for a store character. Some dangerous DOT users have good synergy with her, especially Scorpion/Mortal Kombat X's crit DOT. Later on, when crit augment is more plentiful to player, crit DOT will be far more powerful than which her passive can grant; so when your DOT users are augmented, it's a good choice to leave her behind, saving the valuable character slot for more powerful characters instead. In addition, while end-game teams rely heavily on gears, Catwoman cannot boost gears' DOT damage, and combined with her rather low stats, she can't keep up with newer characters, especially in Online Battle. Regardless, Catwoman is still a solid choice early on, being the very first serious DOT build that player has access to.
Gear[]
Quake Engine is the mandatory gear to DOT user, and Catwoman is not an exception. Ra's al Ghul's Scimitar can also allow her to apply bleed to the enemy at start of the match with her SP1, boosting incoming attacks against that opponent, as well as allowing her teammates' special attacks to be possible to KO on every hit, result in efficient grind.
Interactions[]
Please note that battles are highly situational: this section only mentions cards that have mechanics that, for any reason, are particularly effective with/against, or particularly ineffective against Catwoman. Having a card that "counters" Catwoman does not mean it is always a good choice.
Good With[]
- Characters that can cause DOT on special or basic attacks like Scorpion, The Joker/Arkham Origins, Catwoman, Aquaman, and Black Adam/Kahndaq, etc.
- The Batman Who Laughs/Metal: She doubles Savage Robin’s DOT.
- Black Adam/New 52: She doubles the damage done by Black Adam's orbs.
- Wonder Woman/600: Catwoman is a female character that is boosted by Wonder Woman's passive, and Catwoman's passive can double the DOT done by Wonder Woman's SP2.
Countered By[]
- Aquaman/Injustice 2: He can deflect all DOT back at the opponent using his specials and making Catwoman's already powerful bleed DOT back at her with the effect doubled.
- Batman/Arkham Knight: He can choose to be immune to Catwoman's damage over time effect, thus rendering her passive unusable.
- The Flash/Blackest Night: He completely reverses her passive, as his passive lets him gain health over time instead of damage. With a full Blackest Night Team against Catwoman, they might even completely reverse any damage taken by specials themselves because of the strong DOT.

Trivia[]
- This version of Catwoman is based on her appearance in the 1992 movie Batman Returns, in which she was portrayed by Michelle Pfeiffer.
- She's the only Catwoman character with a unique icon.
- For a very long time, her passive was bugged and did not increase DOT damage until it was finally fixed some time in early 2015.
